Rhinoplasty Considerations

Things to Consider Before Surgery

Nose surgery is not an emergency surgery and your general health is always a priority for us. In your pre-operative examination, your disease history, medications you regularly use, your allergic status and previous surgeries will be questioned. The analyzes necessary for you to receive general anesthesia will be done in the hospital before your surgery and the results will be evaluated by the anesthesiologists. Our aim is to apply the highest level of safe and careful surgical procedures by minimizing all risks.
  • Aspirin and other blood thinners, painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs, vitamin pills, weight loss pills should be discontinued 10 days before the surgery as they will cause bleeding during and after the surgery and should not be used for 10 days after the surgery.
  • As herbal teas (green tea, tea with lemon, etc.) can increase the risk of bleeding, they should not be used 1 week before and 1 week after surgical intervention. You can drink black tea.
  • It would be appropriate not to consume foods that contain salicylic acid and have an aspirin-like effect, such as cherries, cherries, garlic, fresh grapes, raisins, and watermelons, which increase bleeding, albeit rarely, within a week before the surgery, if possible.
  • Smoking and hookah adversely affect wound healing. For this reason, it is recommended to leave it as early as possible before the operation and not to use it for 10 days after the operation.
  • Alcohol use should be stopped one week before the surgery.
  • Come to the hospital with comfortable clothes on the day of surgery. Do not wear make-up, do not apply nail polish.
  • Leave your jewelry at home (wedding ring, necklace). If possible, prefer buttoned dresses, not those that are worn all over. Take a warm shower the night before the surgery, do not use hair spray or gel. Male patients should have a beard shave.
  • You should stop eating and drinking 8 hours before your surgery.
  • You must be at the hospital two hours before the surgery.
  • You can obtain Arnica Cream from the pharmacy in order to partially contribute to the relief of swelling and bruises after the surgery. You can start using it the day before the surgery and apply it to the under-eye skin and cheekbones twice a day.
  • Have Arnica Cream and Iliadin Nasal Spray with you on the morning of the surgery, it is useful to apply Arnica to the under-eye skin in the morning. Squeeze the Iliadin in your hospital room shortly before the operation, please.
